Roses from the rose bush that was already here. I was so excited when they started to bloom. Our bush has maybe six flowers and all of our neighbors have forty or so. We need to figure out how to prune it properly and give it some food.
Bartlett Pears
We have 4 pear trees. They are oddly shaped because they haven't been trimmed in a very long time. They still produce fruit. Unfortunately Matt and I are not fans of pears by themselves but made into bread they are great. This fall we need to try out some new recipes. Also on our land we have at least two pecan trees. Last year they did not produce much and the squirrels got the few that were there. Matt said he thought we had a blackberry vine growing on a shared fence. I hope so, my mom made a great blackberry cobbler on Mother's Day. This is not the vine but it is pretty and on the same fence. It smells very nice.
Matt has been working very hard this year growing a garden for us. Our land has random metal, bricks, glass, shower heads and trash all in it. He had to till our garden spot several times to unearth all the junk and we still find stuff. Matt has planted lettuce, tomatoes, onions, green beans, peas, squash, okra, zucchini, rosemary, jalapenos and chili peppers. It is looking pretty good. We have already enjoyed some of the romaine lettuce.

This brick path was covered by dirt and grass except for a tiny bit of brick. I started uncovering the brick and this is what was found. It was a fun day finding this. I had about twelve family members sitting around the yard and we took turns uncovering the path.
You should prune roses on Valentine's Day! Once the blooms have turned ugly make sure to trim them off.
